Taking the High Road
By Robert Johnson Howard

I blame you and you blame me it’s a circle that never seems to ends
With shock and awe in the name of God, is that what we really intend
Maybe it’s true the things that we do are the cause of this hateful fixation
Take it heart from the bottom up we can try some human transformation

Jealousy is the root of our pain and hate is the cause we incite
It’s a sad and sad feeling that we need to justify, we always have to be right

Chorus:
I’m taking the high road
Hey people, we got to make this work, we all need a common line of sight
I’m taking the high road
Hey people, times are changing; we’ve got to meet a wrong with a right

When you feel a need to call me names then I’ll just turn and walk away
If you’d practice half of what you preach, then you would meet me half way
Turn the other cheek; Show some respect, these things are not done in shame
Sometimes the hard thing and the right thing can be one in the same

The ends don’t justify the means; it’s not how you win the game
Your people they are my people, in the end we’re all the same

about

Robert Johnson Howard Newport, Rhode Island

Writing and recording is my passion. Its like a painting. It doesn't do any good stuck in my head so I might as well get it out before it drives me to cut my ear off.
